Overall it is clear that the consumption of margarine and butter experienced a considerable decline, however low-fat and reduced spreads increased rapidlyover this period
In 1981 , butter consumption was the highest among the there, at just over 140 grams. Moreover , butter usage increased gradually and reached its highest point in 1986 at 100 grams Nevertheless, the trend changed in the following years, and its consumption went down slightly.”
Margarine was consumed at 90 grams in the first year then the consumption fluctuated and reached 100 grams in 1991 . This line remained stable from 1991 to 1996, although it decreased dramatically to 40 grams by the end of the period.
In contrast , the consumption of low-fat and reduced spreads started at only 10 grams in 1991. Subsequently, there was a significant rise in 2001, before a slight decline to about 75 grams in 2007
