Overall, the mall is expected to undergo major redevelopment, with a clear shift from a mainly retail-focused centre to a multifunctional complex offering leisure, dining, and fitness facilities. While some existing features such as the supermarket and department store will be retained, several new amenities will be added and the internal layout will be significantly reorganised.
At present, Southside consists primarily of shops. On the eastern side, there is a large department store, while the western section contains a supermarket and several smaller retail units. A café and a cinema are located in the northern part of the mall, and there is a car park to the west. Outside the mall, a golf course and park area occupy the southeastern corner.
Under the proposed development, many fashion and specialist shops will replace some existing retail space, and new services such as a beauty salon and information centre will be introduced. The northern area will be redesigned to include a play area, noodle shop and café. In addition, a fitness centre will be constructed to the east of the mall, while the surrounding park and car park will remain in place. Overall, the plan aims to modernise Southside and broaden its appeal beyond shopping alone.
