The two pie charts give information about the consumption of water in six different sectors, namely vegetables, cereal, dairy, fruits, rice, and livestock in 2004 and the value of these sectors in Australia at the same period.
It is clear that more water is consumed by growing vegetables than by the other five products. However, income generated from growing fruits had the highest proportion.
In 2004, the percentage of water used in cultivating vegetables accounted for nearly half of all water. By contrast, a mere 3% of the water went to rice and live stock. The opposite trend can be seen when we look at fruits water use. This made up 28% of the total amount of water, but only 8% and 12% for manufacturing dairy and cecreal products respectively.
Turning to income, the rate of earnings from fruits produced the highest earnings. The profits from selling vegetables, on the other hand, saw a slight decline to 33% compared to the water utilization. Likewise, there was an gradual decrease in rice production. In addition, cereal comprised 13% of the total in come, while the figures of dairy and livestock still remained at this level.
