The given charts illustrate how water is consumed for six different products and its total income generated from these products in Australia in the year of 2004.
Overall, it is clear that vegetables needed much more water than the other five products. However, the total income from fruits far surpassed that of vegetables. It is noteworthy that the proportion of rice and livestock came last in both water consumption and its value.
According to water usage, vegetables ranked the top, at 46%. This was followed by fruits, making up a much lower proportion (28%). The figures for dairy was two-thirds of that for cereal, at 8% and 12% respectively. Meanwhile, rice and livestock took the same percentage, at 3% each.
Examining the second chart in more detail, 42% of total income was from fruits, higher than that earned from vegetables by 9%. Cereal and dairy provided around 13% and 8%. About 3% of the income came from livestock, which was marginally higher than income that came from rice, just about 1%.
