Regarding the number of lines, New York City Subway has the most with a total of 24, followed by Beijing Subway, where 19 lines can be found. On the bottom of the list, there is London tube with 11 lines. Turning to the length of the railways, New York City Subway remains first with just under 660 miles. The second longest is Beijing Subway with 357 miles. Finally, there comes London Tube, Mexico City Metro, Tokyo Subway and the shortest one is Paris Metro with 127 miles.
However, Beijing Subway has the highest amount of journeys per year with approximately 3.6 billion, and with just above 3 billion journeys there is Tokyo Subway. In New York, Mexico City and Paris the annual journeys are around 1.6 billion, and with 1.2 billion, the less used metro system is in Paris. Finally, the most expensive single tickets are in London for 7.30 US dollars, and the cheapest ones are for 0.23 dollars in Mexico City.
