In 2008, educational establishments attracted the highest percentage of volunteers at 24%. By 2014, this figure had significantly dropped to 17%. Meanwhile, the proportion of volunteers in art and “other” organizations declined by the same 6%, from 18% to 12% and from 15% to 9%, respectively.
This starkly contrasts the figures for the remaining organizations, all of which experienced increases over a 6-year period. Sports establishments saw a rise, with the proportion soaring from 15% to 25%, marking the most significant rise among the categories in question. Despite this staggering growth, it did not surpass environmental organizations, which witnessed a noticeable increase, from 21% to 29%. Healthcare consistently had the lowest proportion of volunteers, despite rising from 7% to 8%.
