In 1995, Shipsmouth was relatively undeveloped. A factory was located near the water in the west, surrounded by trees. The city centre consisted of a main road used by vehicles, with a railway station situated just to the south. On the eastern side, there were residential houses and a church, along with green areas.
By 2010, the town had transformed dramatically. The factory and trees in the west were removed and replaced with apartment blocks, a shopping centre, and a football stadium. The city centre road was converted into a pedestrian-only zone, improving accessibility for walkers. In addition, the number of railway stations increased, with two stations positioned north and south of the city centre. On the eastern side, the houses and church were replaced by a pub, skyscrapers, and a newly constructed airport.
