Overall, it is clear that residential sector accounted for the vast majority of total water consumption. Additionally, garden and bathroom were the two main purpose for using water in Australian homes.
Regarding the pie chart, residential water consumption was the highest, with 70% of the total. This figure is more than 6 times higher than industrial water use, which stood at 11%. The percentage of business sector was 10%, which was slightly lower than industrial. Meanwhile, government and other sectors occupied a very small proportion, with 6% and 3% respectively. Combined, they made up less than one-tenth of the total.
Turning to the bar chart, garden used the most water at 28%, which is a little higher than bathroom at 27%. Washing clothes came in third place with 20%, account for exactly one-fifth of the total. Finally, toilet and kitchen had smaller percentages, at 15% and 10% respectively. Notably, water used for the garden was nearly three times as much as the kitchen.
