The tables present data regarding the sales of Fairtrade-certified coffee and bananas in five distinct regions of Europe spanning the years 1999 to 2004.
In general, coffee emerges as the top-selling commodity in the United Kingdom, with sales witnessing a consistent upward trajectory across the entire nation over a six-year period. Conversely, bananas experienced the highest sales volumes in Switzerland, with sales growth observed in only three countries.
Analysis of the data reveals a positive sales trend for coffee across all regions from 1999 to 2004. Notably, the United Kingdom witnessed a substantial surge in coffee sales from 1.5 units to 20 units, while Switzerland recorded a doubling of sales from 6 to 12 units. On the other hand, Denmark, Belgium, and Sweden experienced modest growth rates, with sales figures increasing from 1.8 to 2, 1 to 1.7, and 0.8 to 1, respectively.
In contrast, the sales of bananas exhibited growth only in Switzerland, escalating from 15 units to 47 units, followed by the United Kingdom, where sales rose from 1 to 5.5 units. Belgium saw an increase from 0.6 units in 1999 to 4 units in 2004. However, sales of bananas slightly declined from 1.8 to 1 in Sweden, and experienced a more significant drop from 2 to 0.9 units in Denmark.
