Two tables present the sales figures of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in five different countries which are Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. These tables show the sales in 1999 and 2004 in millions of euros.
It can be clearly seen that the sale of coffee in Switzerland was higher than earnings from any other country, at 3 million euros in 1999. The earnings from coffee in Switzerland doubled in 2004, starting from 3 million euros to 6 million euros. The sales of coffee in the UK also accounted for a significant number with 1.5 million euros. Surprisingly, the earnings remarkably jumped to 20 million euros in 5 years.
In addition, Switzerland not only showed the highest sales among other countries, but also good performance in the sales of bananas, at 15 million euros in 1999. The earnings then noticeably increased by approximately three times in 2004. Sweden presented poor sales performance in 1999 with only 1.8 million euros. There was a moderate reduction in the total sales by 0.8 million euros in 2004.
To conclude, Switzerland is the country that accounted for most sales of coffee and bananas, while Sweden showed an unsuccessful performance in terms of banana earnings.
