The diagram illustrates how pineapple products are made from scratch. Overall, it takes about a year to make products, which then sorted according to its size then turn into different products such as juice, canned fruit, or exported fresh.
In the first phase, pineapples grow naturally. Firstly, crowns are planted on the ground at a distance of about 26 cm from each other. After they are left to grow for about 7 months in temperatures ranging from 23°C to 30°C, ethylene is sprayed on the plants in order to stimulate further growth. Approximately five months later, the fully grown pineapples are harvested.
In the remaining phases, pineapple products are made. Once, the harvested pineapples are washed and sorted based on their size, to be transported to the processing line. Small pineapples are used to make juice while medium-sized fruits are processed and packed into cans. In contrast, the largest pineapples are exported to other countries to be consumed as a fresh fruit.
