Overall, it is evident that more families owned electronic devices in 2020 compared to 2005. Also, the highest percentage of households belonged to smartphones in 2020, whereas the desktop computers had the highest percentage of households in 2005.
To begin with, 55% of households in 2005 were desktop computers, which was the highest percentage. This figure was almost twice as much as the next popular item that is laptop. It is notable that other electronic devices had about 5% difference from each other, with smartphones owning 15% of the households, followed by tablet and smart TVs.
Delving into 2020, the smartphone figure became 5 times more than its percentage in 2005 and standed as the most popular household. Furthermore, in comparison to 2005, the laptop figure experienced an increase and reached 65% in 2020. Other electronic devices’ percentage ranged from 40% to 50%. It is worth noting that desktop computers were the only device which the ownership of it was more in 2005 than 2020.
