Overall, the number of temporary workers increased significantly in all countries, with the US attracting the most workers in both years. It is also clear that, despite hiring the least number of workers in 2006, New Zealand had the highest number of temporary workers per thousand capita.
In detail, the number of temporary workers in Australia increased from 152.000 to 219.000 in 2006, which was approximately a 70.000 rise in the numbers. In the latter year, this number translated to 10.7 temporary workers per 1.000 people. In New Zealand, relatively less people came to work from overseas in both years. However, there was a growth to 87.000 from the chart-low of 65000.In 2006, the 87.000 temporary workers in New Zealand calculated to 21.1 workers per thousand people, the highest among the four countries.
Looking at the United countries, US was the country that attracted the highest number of migrants who work temporarily. Its figure initially hosting a 577.000, then it rose to 678000 in 2006, exceeding the total number of all the other countries put together. However, this translated to the lowest average number of temporary workers per 1000 people at merely 2.3. As for United Kingdom, it nearly doubled it figures from 137000 to 266.00, and it is calculated that of 4.4 which was a bit higher than US.
