The first bar chart provides information about the percentage of people possessing driver license between genders from 1976 to 2006. The second graph shows the proportion of young drivers aged between 17 and 20. Overall, while the percentages of drivers increase dramatically, that of young drivers witnessed a slight decrease by the end of the period regardless of gender. Notably, it was figures of males that accounted for the higher proportions than their females.
Looking at the first graph, the figure for males started with about 70% while that of women stood at nearly 30% in 1976. The percentage of men and women increased gradually between 60 and 80%, and 20 and 60% from, respectively 1981 to 1990. While the percentage of male drivers remain stable with approximately 80%, that of female drivers witnessed a gradual increase to 60% by the end of the period
In 1996, the figure for boys who have a driver license was dominator with 50% and this was followed by a slight decrease to 45% in 2006. In 1996 the figure for girl drivers indicated lower percentage than boys with 30% and decrease to 20% by 2006.
