The pie charts compare the demographics regarding electronic game players in South Korea in 2003, categorized by gender, age groups, and preferred game genres.
Overall, the vast majority of digital gamers in South Korea were male. In addition, the video gaming population was heavily dominated by younger people from the 18 to 36 age group. Among the various genres of games, action games were by far the most popular choice.
With the regard to age profiles of the gaming community, younger generations made up the overwhelming majority of the market. The under-18 and 18-36 cohorts dominated the age demographics at nearly 40% and 38% respectively, their combined figure comprising over three-quarters of the entire market. Conversely, individuals aged 36 and above formed the smallest age group, accounting for nearly a quarter of total at 23%. In terms of gender distribution, there was also a huge gap as male gaming players comprised 72% of the total, nearly tripling the female figure rate of 28%.
Analysing genre preferences , action games took a commanding lead, capturing 43% of total figures. Sports games came in second at exactly one-fifth (20%), slightly ahead of racing games at 17%. In contrast, educational and role-playing games were the least popular options, with each category accounting for an identical and small share of just 7%.
