The illustration sheds step-by-step phases involved in producing sugar from sugarcane.
Overall, this operation has seven individual steps, beginning with growing the sugarcane and gaining sucrose as the end product.
In the initial stage sugarcane is cultivated, which takes about 12 to 18 months until maturity. After this when the sugarcane is ready to be cut, it is harvested either mechanically using a tractor or manually by farmers.
Afterwards, the sugarcane is then taken to a processing plant where it is crushed to extract the juice. This liquid is then purified using a limestone filter which removes impurities. Next, the purified juice is boiled in an evaporator to remove H2O, which concentrates it to make syrup.
Additionally, the syrup is then poured into a centrifuge where it spins at a high speed to separate the sugar crystals from the liquid. Finally, the crystals are dried and cooled in a large pot and at last sugar is produced.
