The diagrams depict how a student regular room has changed over the past five years.
Overall, the room has become more modern and multifunctional, with the addition of recreational amenities and extra appliances as well as the reorganization of seating arrangements to accommodate a wider range of activities.
Five years ago, the room has a comparatively straightforward and study-oriented layout. Four identical circular tables were distributed through the room, each surrounded by six chairs. Along the northern wall were a cupboard, a sink, two benches, a microwave, and a refrigerator, arranged from west to east. Moreover, a bookshelf was positioned at the south-eastern corner of the room.
At present, the common room has been redesigned significantly. First, one of the benches has been replaced by an additional microwave, whereas the remaining facilities have been retained. Furthermore, the bookshelf has been removed to make way for television area, equipped with several armchairs, while a drinks machine has been installed nearby. The number of tables has been decreased from four to three and one of them has been transformed into a rectangular table, with ten chairs surrounding. Finally, an extra bench for laptop users has been added by the southern wall of the room.
