The diagrams give information about the process in the erotion of a headland. It shows four stages from rock eroded to stump. The erotion took place in a headland near to a beach.
At first, the headland standing as strong wall, however it’s lower part began to weak and started to erode. This stage creates a hollow in the headland, which becomes arch, for example Durdle, Door and Dorset. As the wave beats the cave, it broken the roof and left a stack which separate from it’s original land.
After being separated, the headland starts to retreat and get closer to the stack. However, it made a stump on the ocean. This cycle could repeat due to high pressure of the ocean’s wave.
In conclusion, the headland might fall when facing strong waves. In addition, the broken headland could made a stack and a stump in the ocean which located in different areas from it’s main land.
