The bar chart illustrates the amount of money spent on six different consumer goods – console games, outdoor game accessories, cosmetics, books, toys, and cameras – across four countries (Belgium, Spain, Austria, and Britain) in 2012.
Overall, it is clear that Britain was the highest spender in every single category compared to the other three nations. Conversely, Belgium generally recorded the lowest expenditure levels across the majority of the goods listed.
Regarding the first three categories, Britain spent the most on cosmetics and outdoor accessories, with both figures hovering around 160 thousand pounds sterling. Spain and Belgium showed similar spending patterns in console games, both spending approximately 145 to 150 thousand pounds. Austria’s spending in these categories was consistently lower, particularly in cosmetics, where it spent the least at just over 140 thousand pounds.
In the remaining categories, the disparity in spending became more pronounced. British expenditure reached its peak with cameras and toys, exceeding 170 and 165 thousand pounds respectively. While Austria showed a strong preference for cameras, spending nearly 165 thousand pounds, Belgium remained the lowest spender in these areas, with its toy and book expenditure failing to reach the 150 thousand pound mark.
