The bar chart illustrates student applications at three US universities from 1990 to 2010 in four different faculty areas. Overall, there was a significant increase in business and social work faculty, whereas biology and engineering decreased sharply.
At the beginning of the period, the number of student applications at business faculty was 2000 students. Similarly, the social work faculty was lower on applicants than business faculty. There was a significant increase in business applicants by 50% higher than before and reached to peak at 4000 students in 2010. However, the number of applications at social work faculty climbed slowly over the period.
On the other hand, Engineering was a faculty with the highest number of applicants in 1990. There was a sharp drop in engineering applicants over the period and made this faculty become less popular at the end of the period. Furthermore, biology followed with a drastic decline to its lowest point at around 800-1000 students.
