The bar chart illustrates the number of workers in four occupations-accountant, cook, software engineer and computer programmer, who migrated to Australia from 2009 to 2012.
Overall, the figure for accountants and computer programmers showed an upward trend, albeit to varying degrees, with accountant being the most popular occupation, while cook and software engineer figures declined. Notably, the computer programmer migrants consistently had the lowest trend among the four occupations.
Focusing on accountant and computer programmer migrants first, the number of accountant migrants grew slightly from 20000 in 2009, to a peak of about 27000 in 2010. By 2012, this figure decreased to just above 20000, whereas programmer migrants remained relatively low at 2000 until 2011, before rising significantly to 5000 in 2021.
By contrast, starting at 28000 in the initial year, the number of software engineer migrants fell to about 22000, in prior to falling to 17000 in the eventual year, while the number of cook migrants grew slightly by 1000 from 17000, after which it dropped marginally to 16000 in 2012.
