The given bar chart shows information about how European nations spent their weekly salaries on different household categories between 1990 and 2020.
Overall, in this period, households spent money on three household categories; unlike the other four, spending on these decreased at the beginning of the year.
First of all, from 1990 to 2020, spending on entertainment and personal care fell by about 5 percent, showing the bottom position. Unlike the clothing and groceries categories, these decreased by about 15 and 25 percent, to approximately 5 and about 20 percent respectively, in the last year. Clothing and personal care were the categories on which households spent the least money.
However, in this period, there were many categories that showed increases from the initial year. Transportation experienced a small rise and reached about 12 percent. Furthermore, the utilities category increased twofold and reached 10 percent at the end of the period. The last category, rent and housing, showed the largest rise, and the percentage nearly doubled from 18 percent to about 35 percent. European people showed the most interest in rent and housing costs in this period.
