The bar chart provides illustration of social media usage by Australians from five different applications over a two-year period (2018 – 2020).
Overall, the number of people consumed social media is either increasing or remaining constant apart from Facebook which saw a decline. Moreover, the trend generally shows that YouTube is highly consumed throughout the period.
In terms of YouTube, it has risen by up to 4 million people from under 14 million and ended at around 17 million people. While Facebook stand as the second largest social media, unfortunately it witnessed a gradual decrease from 12 million to slightly 10 million. In contrast, WhatsApp showed a significant increase where it was accounted for almost three times higher in 2020 than 2018.
Regarding to the other two social media, Twitter and Instagram, did not display growth or reduction: both remained constant with very minimal fluctuations. However, clear evidence appeared on the graph that YouTube and Facebook had by far the utmost popular social media among others.
