Overall, all countries showed their share of the dwellers for 50 years from 1980. In addition, Canada kept up with UK and the middle of the time span and surpassed it in the end of the period.
In 1980, Germany had the highest proportion of people aged 65 or over, at around 15%, followed closely by Canada at approximately 10%. The UK had the smallest elderly population, with just over 10%. By the year 2000, the percentage of elderly people had increased in all three countries, with Germany reaching about 20%, Canada around 15%, and the UK remaining slightly below 15%.
Looking ahead to 2030, the percentage of people aged 65 and above is expected to continue rising in all three countries. Germany is projected to have the highest elderly population at around 25%, followed by Canada at about 22%. The UK’s elderly population, while also increasing, is expected to remain the lowest, just below 20%.
