The chart above illustrates the number of spending for some categories measured in percentages, which occurred in four developed countries in 2009. A glance at the figure showed that the majority of consumption was the housing. Whereas, the spending on food was the highest one of all in Japan.
Based on the data, it was explained that the expenditure share for housing became the most popular, which occurred in the United States at about 26% in 2009 rather than others. On the other hand, the lowest spending peak in the United States was clothing compared to others. Besides that, food gave attention to a high share of expenditure experienced in Japan and the United Kingdom, around 23% and 20%, respectively, except in the United States and Canada. In contrast, the United States and Canada had a significant expenditure on transportation at 18% and 20%, respectively, compared to Japan and the United Kingdom.
Apart from that, the unpopular category was depicted to happen in the healthcare sector in four countries, especially for the United Kingdom at 3%, which was the lowest expenditure of all major sectors in those countries.
