The graph demonstrates the average amount of time housework women did in comparison to full-time working men from 1985 to 2005 in the UK.
Overall, throughout the 20-year period, men who were employed full-time had the least hours spent on housework. On the other hand, unemployed women did the most housework hours.
To begin with, in 1985, unemployed women spent precisely 7 hours doing housework. However, this number a bit declined in 1995, before increased back to 7 hours in 2005. Furthermore, part-time working women spent roughly 5 and a half hours on housework in 1985, but fell to only 5 hours in 1995, then rose to 6 hours in average in 2005. For women with full-time employment, it started at 2 hours spent for doing housework, then climbed to just almost 3 hours in 2005. In contrast, full-time working men remained stable in the first two period, but saw a gentle increase in 2005 with around 1,5 hours time spent.
