The selected bar chart illustrates the gender allocation across four diffirent evening courses at an adult education centre in 2009. The pie chart presents the age distibution on all participants in the same period.
Overall, women attended more courses than men in most subjects. In addition, people aged 50 or over made up the largest group of students.
The language course was the most popular, especially among women, with 40 female students compared to 20 males. Painting and drama also had more women than men. In painting, there were 30 women and 25 men, while in drama there were 20 women and only 10 men. Moreover, sculpture was the only course where men had outnumbered women with 10 men abd 5 women, and it was the least popular subject.
According to the pie chart, the majority of students were older adults. People aged 50 or over accounted for 42% of all participants, which was the highest percentage. The 40-49 age group made up 26%. Additionally, younger people came less frequently. Those age 20-29 represented 11%, while under 20 were the smallest group only 5%.
