The data displays the proportion of females and males of different age groups in Australia, who engaged in regular physical activity during 2010.
Overall, it is clearly evident that for a significant majority, Australian women are more active than men, by far. However, it is important to consider that males between 15 and 24 years old were the only age group to exceed the opposite gender, regarding fitness.
To begin with, we can notice that as women get older, they tend to participate more and more in physical activities. This can be illustrated by the steady increase in percentage, starting from exactly 47.7% for females aged between 15 and 24 years old and culminating at just over 50% for those among 45 to 54 years old. Nonetheless, these percentages witness a slight decrease with the two final age groups, falling at 47.1% by the end.
The youngest age group of Australian men seems to have a little over half engaged in fitness and regular activity. Although, this proportion starts to experience a steady decrease for the next two age groups, only to witness a gradual resurgence with the remainder. The latter can be proven by the percentage of men aged 65 and over, where 47.1 of the do regular physical activity.
