The bar chart compares the percentage of households with internet access in terms of three age groups across the USA, the UK and Japan in 2022.
Overall, it is clear that internet access declined steadily with age in all three nations. Furthermore, Japan recorded the highest figures throughout, whereas the UK consistently lagged behind its counterparts.
Among the youngest group, connectivity was almost universal. Japan led with 98%, closely followed by the USA at 96%, while the UK stood at 94%. A similar pattern emerged in the 30-49 bracket, where Japanese households reached 90%, considerably higher than that of the UK, at 82%.
The gap widened sharply among older citizens. Whereas 72% of Japanese homes remained connected, the equivalent figure for the UK fell to just 58%, with the USA in between at 64%. This indicates that age affected British users most severely.
