The given bar chart illustrates how many people live alone in Great Britain on different stage of life (16-24, 25-44, 45-64, 65-74, 75 and over yeras old) in 2004-2005. Each age period is divided by sex.
Overall, the percentage of people living on their own is the highest among those of 75 and over. From 16 to 64 yeals old there are men, who tend to live alone, while from 65 and over women make the majority.
More specifically, the biggest number of alone living women (and at the same time – people) is slightly less than 60% in the age of 75 and over. At the same age, therer is the highest percentage of alone men, which equals to roughly 30%. The similarity can be seen in the number of males from three different gropus, namely from 25 to 44, from 45 to 64 and from 65 to 74 years old, with all of them counting around 15% of the total number in their time period.
The biggest percentage gap is seen in the category of 75 and over (around 30%), while the smallest is about 3% in the groups of 16-24 and 45-64 years old.
