Overall, it is clear that the percentage of living alone increased in all groups during this period. The group aged 55-64 experienced the highest change among others, from 3% in 1850 to around 17% in 2000. Moreover, this group had the most disparity with other groups in 2000.

In 1850, as we can see, there was just three groups which experienced living by themselves. In 1900, however, 3% of a new group aged 27-36 started to live independently, less than other categories. The proportion of this group rise considerably in 2000, exactly at 8%.

In 1950, a few number of youth people from 17 to 26 years old experienced loneliness, approximately 2%. Additionally this percentage increased by roughly 5% in 2000.
