The bar chart illustrates the percentages of people who ate five portions of fruit and vegetables a day in the United Kingdom between 2001 and 2008.
Overall, percentages increased steadily during the seven-year period before decreasing in the last year. Women consumed the most fruit and vegetables, followed by men and children. The percentages rose to the highest in 2006.
In the beginning, the differences between the factors were equal, with around 20 percent, 15 percent, and 10 percent. The percentage of women increased by approximately 5 percent from 2001 to 2003, while men and children remained steady, with around 15 and 10 percent. Then, percentages of all three factors soared at the same proportion until the peak, with women at over 30 percent, men at 30 percent, and children at 25 percent. In the following two years, all percentages significantly decreased, narrowing the wide gap between the factors. In the final year, women and men were around 30 percent, and children were at 25 percent.
