The data illustrates the world’s oil production in OPEC and non-OPEC nations. A trend of OPEC Middle East nations dominating the world oil production is seen.
Beginning with the non-OPEC nations it is clear that between 1980 to 2000 they were dominating the world oil production share by producing almost 9 million barrels per day. However, from 2000 and 2010 we see OPEC Middle East and Other OPEC countries increasing their world’s oil production share significantly. In these periods of 2000 to 2010 we see OPEC middle east producing 8 million barrels per day followed by other OPEC countries producing 6 million barrels per day the remainder production being done by non-OPEC which has already lost their fair share of the market. The rest of the following decades of 2010 to 2020 established OPEC Middle east nations in significant control of world’s oil production and increasing their oil production capacity to almost 16 million barrels per day.
Overall, the graph depicts that with each passing decade OPEC Middle east countries went on to dominate and control the world’s oil production with a remarkably high percentage whilst non OPEC countries share decreased drastically.
