Overall, the proportion of Italian immigrating to Australia is the highest in the first year and it continued to remain until the last year 2002. One more striking feature is that the percentage of immigrants from New Zealand and Italy witnessed a decrese while the data of others followed the opposite trend.
As shown, in the first year, the data of Italian colonist was 40%, which was 5 times as high as the figure for New Zealand. Over the next 50 years, these data exprienced a downward trend, with the former slight increasing to 5% and the latter plumetting of 25%.
In contrast, the proportion of immigrants from India saw a gradual growth from 4% to 14% from 1962 to 2002. Similarity, there was the same in the percentage of immigrants from United Kingdom and India in 1962, at 10%. After 40 years, both of them saw a marginal rise to the corresponding figures of about 12,5% and 14%.
