Overall, the majority of mobile phone users belonged to the 16-30 age group and 31-50 age group, respectively. In addition, people who were less than 15 years old accounted for the lowest used mobile phone over a period.
To start with, in 1998, people between 16 and 30 years old were seen to make up the most mobile usage, taking up 53% of the figure, before showed a slight decrease to 45% in 1999 and 44% in 2000. The corresponding pattern also appeared with the adult group (31 to 50 years old), at 41% in 1998, 39% in 1999 and reduced minimally to 37% at the end of the period.
There was a large gap between the youngest and the oldest group compared to the two mentioned groups. The percentage of people less than 15 years old using mobile phones was only 2% in 1998, and 8% for the elderly group. Through the period, in 2000 the figures for these groups increased gradually as there were more young and elderly people using mobile phones, at 9% and 10%, respectively.
