Overall, females from South Asia are the most illiterate, whereas development countries have the least amount of illiteracy for both males and females.
In general, people from developed countries are less illiterate; the percentage of women’s illiteracy is approximately one percent. The illiteracy rate of males and females in Latin America is exactly similar, which is nearly ten, whereas the percentage between men and women in East Asia or Oceania has a huge difference. Although the illiteracy rate of males is very low in the Caribbean, the percentage of women is ten percent higher than that of males. Regions like Sub-Saharan Africa, Arab States and South Asia have the highest illiteracy rates compared to other regions.
Furthermore, the illiteracy rate of men in both Africa and Arab States is nearly thirty percent, whereas the rate for males in Asia is a bit greater. Women from these regions are more illiterate. Sub- Saharan African women have a less than fifty percent rate, whereas the illiteracy rate of women in Arab States and Asia is higher than fifty percent.
