The given bar chart illustrates the percentage of multiple qualifications acquired by men and women of employable age in Wales in 2001 and 2002.
The qualifications are divided into six categories: degree, higher education qualification, GCE A level, GCSE grade A* – C, other qualifications and no qualifications.
Overall, GCE A level was the most frequently obtained qualification among males, whereas GCSE grade A*-C was the highest one among females. On the other hand, the lowest levels are seen in higher education qualification for both sexes. Also, it can be seen from the chat that females outnumbered males in having no qualifications.
More specifically, the most common qualification for males was GCE A level, with just under 30 percent, twice times as large as it was for females. The situation is very similar with GSCE grade A* – C, having approximately 29 percent for women and one third less, with about 19% for men. The third most widespread category is obtaining no qualifications, with 24% and 20% for females and males respectively.
Turning to the next two less popular categories with the simple situation, obtaining a degree or other qualifications, both having approximately 14% for males and 12% for the opposite sex. The lowest number was shown in higher education, with just under 10% and at about 8% for women and men respectively.
