The chart compares the highest academic qualification achieved by people who work in Wales between 2001 and 2002, grouped according to sex.
At a glance, both males and females had varying qualifications, with the majority of males attaining GCE A level or equivalent while women predominated the GCSE grade A-C or equivalent category, both at nearly 30%. The remaining qualifications had males and females at nearly equal proportions.
Upon closer inspection, it is found that more females than males have no qualifications, both standing at approximately 25% and 20% respectively. On the other hand, higher education qualifications appeared to be the least common at just about 10% regardless of gender. Furthermore, slightly more men obtained a degree or equivalent, representing around 13% in comparison with 12%.
