The given chart illustrates the proportion of workers in five different industries in the UK in 1841 and 2011.
Overall, most citizens chose to work for service industry in the latter year, while the reverse was true for those of energy and water as well as agriculture and fishing fields.
Looking closely at the bar chart, it is clear that manufacturing was the most favorable industry with 36%, however, this number shrank exactly 4 times after 170 years to reach only 9%. Similarly in terms of declining, agriculture and fishing witnessed the most dramatic drop among the five examined categories with more than 20 percent of people who stopped working in this field. As a result, in 2011, this number reached the bottom with only 1 percent, which is totally similar to that of energy and water field after experiencing a slight decrease of 2 percent.
Furthermore, regarding the upward trend, the strongest rise belonged to that of service industry with the data growing from just one third to over 80% of citizens heading for this industry, making it the most popular option for workers in 2011. Moreover, there was also a minimal growth of 3 percent from 5 to 8 percent in terms of construction.
