Overall, most categories experienced an upward trend over the period. Furthermore, the figure for gas price in 2011 remained the largest category throughout, while the gas cost in 2005 consistently recorded the lowest figures.
In the first half of the period, the USA was recorded the lowest average gas price in 2005, which was around 2.27 dollars. A year later, it increased slightly to 2.57 dollars before decreased marginally to 2.50 in 2007. Following the next year, it rebounded to 3.25 dollars which was secondly highest price in over the period.
However, the price of gas in the USA dropped significantly from 3.25 dollars in 2008 to 2.35 dollars in 2009. From 2009 onwards, it rose gradually from 2.35 dollars to 2.78 dollars in 2010. Then reached a peak at 2011, which was 3.52 dollars and remained the highest price throughout the period.
