Overall, while Vietnamese boys generally engaged in outdoor activities, girls tended to take part in indoor ones in 2010. In addition, negligible differences were seen in the proportion of teenagers in Vietnam of both genders playing computer games.
About 27% of Vietnamese teenage boys played sports, in comparison with approximately 12% of the female counterparts. Similarly, the percentage of boys going to the park was far higher than that of girls (25% and around 12% respectively). By contrast, the proportion of teenage girls doing art and craft was exactly 25%, and the figure for boys was lower, at roughly 6%.
As for reading books, the share of girls engaging in this leisure activity far exceeded that of boys, with respective figures being around 18% and 10%. In the meantime, the figure for Vietnamese teenagers of both genders playing computer games saw no difference, with 15% of boys and girls having this recreational activity. 15% of teenage boys also were interested in DVDs, whereas DVDs accounted for nearly 20% of female leisure time.
