Overall, the USA recored the greatest number of teaching hours, whereas Japan had the lowest. Notaly, each teacher spent the most teaching hours in upper secondary school in 4 countries.
In Japan, the number of teaching hours stood at 600 in primary before increasing to 650 in lower secondary and reaching 700 hours in upper secondary. A similar pattern was observed in Iceland, where the corresponding figures were in primary and lower secondary schools, whereas Iceland recorded considerably higher teaching hours at upper secondary at 900 hours.
The number of teaching hours in primary in the USA stood at 750 hours, which was approximately 100 hours higher than that of Spain. While lower secondary was spent the number of hours teaching for each teacher at 1000 hours in the USA, that of Spain had around 750 hours. notably, upper secondary teachers recorded substaintially higher figures across all three school levels, with figure ranging in Spain from 900 hours to 1190 hours in the USA.
