The bar chart illutrates the percentage of population aged 65 and over in four nations including England, Wales, Scotland,Northern Ireland and the UK during two different years.

It is clear that Wales was the largest ageing population in both years, while the proportion of Northern Ireland’s individuals who fall into the 65 and over accounted for the lowest figure in 1985 and 2035. It is noticeable that all countries’ population is predicted to have an upward trend in 2035.

Starting at just over 15% of Wales ageing population, which is the highest figure at the beginning of the period, compared with england and uk at 15% and higher than that of Scotland’s people who are belong to the 65 and over at under 15%. Meanwhile, the percentage of Northern Ireland’s individuals aged 65 and over was the smallest rate at over 10% in the firt year.

After 50 years, levels of people who aged 65 and over in four nations is predicted to increase dramatically. In terms of Wales, the figure for individuals who are belong to the 65 and over increase significantly by 10%, higher than that of Scotland’s individuals by 2% in the final year. Meanwhile, the remaining three nations rise to less than 25% in 2035.
