The table compares four different types of daily oil production based on the number of barrels per day in four countries between 2000 and 2004, at 1-year intervals.
Looking at the illustration, it is clear that Congo recorded the highest figure in most years, while the opposite was true for Chad. Furthermore, all the daily oil production in the four countries examined showed a significant common trend, with the exception of Chad and Somalia.
In 2000, Congo’s oil production dominated the chart at 275,000, which was more than double that of Nigeria (205,000). Coming in third at 5,000 barrels in 2003, Chad has joined the chart and it was also the last producer in 2003. In 2004, after some fluctuations, Nigeria’s daily production grew exponentially and peaked at 213,000 barrels. The opposite pattern can be seen in the Congo figure at 203,000 barrels. Meanwhile, Chad and Somalia are at the bottom with the same figure of 50,000 barrels each.
