The pie charts illustrate the water usage in industry, agriculture and domestic in six different areas of the world.
Overall, the biggest share in four regions (Africa, Central Asia, South East Asia and South America) is attributed to agricultural use, while in North America and Europe belongs to industrial use.
Regarding Central Asia, Africa, Southeast Asia and South America, the highest proportion belongs to industrial use, at 88%, 84%, 81% and 71% respectively. The amount of water used for industrial and domestic purposes in Central Asia and Africa is below 10% with industrial usage having the smallest share. In South East Asia, the lowest percentage is attributed to domestic use, at 7%. The smallest proportion in South America belongs to Industrial usage, at 10%.
Regarding North America and Europe, industrial water use experienced the highest amount around 50%; while the lowest amount is used for domestic purposes, at 13% and 15% respectively. In both regions, the percentage of Agricultural use is between 30% and 40%.
