The bar charts illustrate the comparison between male and female people aged 60-64 who worked in four countries during the 30 year tenure from 1970. Units are measured in percentage.
Overall, it is clear that proportion of male workers were more than female’s during the period, despite the downward trend.
The distribution of workers were fairly steady in the beginning, with USA and Indonesia holding the top with more than 80% while Belgium and Japan’s figure were slightly less than 80% for men. In 2000, the percentage of workers in Belgium and Japan dropped to more than 50 %, while USA and Indonesia remaining the top with slightest decrease to 78%and 72% respectively.
As for the women,in 1970 , 78% from USA, Belgium and Indonesia more or less the same with more than 60 %, and the lowest 55% in Japan were exhibited. At the end of the period, a decrease in the number of each was observed, 50% in Indonesia, 48% in Japan, while USA’s fell almost double with 40%. Belgium experienced a significant reduction to 8%.
