The pie chart and table illustrate what nursing graduates decided to do after graduation in the UK 2009.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the vast majority of nursing graduates sought for employment in the healthcare industry. The figure for graduates specializing in hospital nursing was by far the most significant. While the opposite was the case for mental nurse.
Looking first of all at the pie chart, the percentage of alumnus working in the healthcare sector dominated at 84%, followed by considerably smaller proportions of those working and studying, and being unemployed at 8% and 4%, respectively. The data for graduates pursuing further studies and others were negligible, accounting for 2%, each.
Hospital nurse is the most common job for graduates working in the healthcare industry at 72.9%, with midwives and community nurses being significantly less popular at 12.4% and 10.3%, in turn. The least prevalent career path for graduates was mental nurses at 0,4%, with slightly higher percentages of them working as parademics (1.3%) and pursuing other jobs (2.7%)
