In this line chart, we see information about various age groups of people who went to the gym at least once a month between 1990 and 2000. Overall, it is evident that there are four age groups and six different years represented in the data. However, it is clear that the 18-24 age group primarily visits the gym more than other groups, while people aged 45 and older rarely do so, as they tend to have less energy.
In 1990, the 18-24 age group began at 5%. However, after four years, their interest increased and by 1994, the percentage of gym-goers in this group rose to 10%. As fitness awareness grew over the years, we see a dramatic increase; by 2002, the line shows that nearly 30% of this age group was going to the gym, marking significant growth. This trend continued to climb, reaching an impressive 60% in 2008 – the most substantial increase on this chart. However, from 2008 to 2010, their percentage remained stable, with only a slight increase of 1 or 2 percent.
When looking at the 25-34 age group, we find they started their gym journey ahead of everyone else in terms of percentages. In 1990, about 10% belonged to this group, and year after year, they consistently increased their gym attendance. By 1994, they surpassed the younger generation and maintained a higher position on the chart. By 2010, nearly 51% of this age group was attending the gym, securing second place in the line chart.
The third group, aged 35-44, shows a decline in interest as they age. This group started at only 3%, but by 1994, they had increased to 7%. Their numbers remained stable for a few years, but from 2006 to 2010, they experienced significant growth, jumping nearly 19%, which is impressive.
Finally, when we look at the 45 and older age group, we see that they began with only 2%. They experienced slight increases, reaching 8% by 1994, but their figures remained stable for four years thereafter. They did not see a dramatic rise or fall; instead, their percentage increased slightly. By 2010, they stood at 21%, which is the lowest percentage among all age groups in this line chart.
