The bar chart illustrates the ways of disposing waste in one European country between 2005 and 2008. Units are in millions of tonnes.
Overall, landfilling method was the most abundant in majority of the period. Burning and dumping wastes at sea were similar throughout the time, while burning was the most widespread way in the end.
In 2005, the majority of rubbish was landfilled, standing at 1800 units. Destroying by heat and dumping at sea were similar (500 and 600 units). Despite the fact that statistics were almost the same in 2006 (600 units for both Burning and Dumping at sea), landfilled wastes were decreased, being at 1200 millions of tonnes.
In the following year, three methods of getting rid of the wastes showed similar results. 900 for landfilling, 700 for burned garbage and 600 millions of tonnes being dumped at sea. In 2008, however, landfilled wastes’ number were surprisingly low (600 units only). Garbage’s number which is thrown at sea was the same as landfilled ones, and Burning method was the most abundant in this year, standing at 900 units.
