In 1960, paper accounted for 25%, which was the highest figure. Textiles was the second largest category at 17%. Food and other waste both made up 12%. Green waste represented 9%, while metal and plastic were 8% each. Glass accounted for 5%, and wood was the smallest type with only 4%.
In 2011, food became the biggest category at 21%. Plastic increased significantly from 8% to 18%. Paper dropped to 15%, and textiles also decreased to 11%. Metal increased slightly to 9%, while green waste stay the same at 9%. Glass remained 5%, and wood increased to 8%. Other waste fell from 12% to 4%.
